Speedefy AC2100 – Unboxing & Review
I am replacing my Luxul AC1200 – 2 Antenna with this brand new Speedefy AC2100 – 7 Antenna model when I moved from an apartment to a house. I also updated my internet connection to Gigabit Speeds with Verizon FIOS. The Speedefy Router makes great use of the gigabit connection and spreads lightning fast Wifi throughout the house evenly.
I moved into a new place and figured I would upgrade my router to something a bit stronger. My previous Router Luxul wmr-AC1200 was doing just fine in my new place but this new AC2100 Router from Speedefy has increased the speed and distance of virtually every device in my house and has extended my connection further outside my house. I noticed the biggest difference in the 2.4 ghz connection, seems the new router did much better than the old one in regards to 2.4 ghz devices. Of course there was a noticeable increase in the 5 ghz connections as well but this was more expected than the 2.4 ghz boost this router and its 7 – 6 dbi Antenna provide. The 7 Antennas insures that your whole home is blanketed with reliable internet. This router is not only extremely affordable at about $80 but the connection should suffice for most home sizes except for extremely large mansion type homes.
Issues found:
The user interface can often be confusing being as the names for certain things are different. For example what would normally be called port forwarding in most routers is actually called Virtual Server on this router. It also appears that the online devices listed is not always accurate. There are certain items in the house that are connected but don’t show up in the list for whatever reason.
Major security flaws
include the fact that when you enter your password to login there is no way hide it from the screen if someone is in the room with you. I don’t see it as being much of an extra threat to hackers because if your computer is truly compromised then they would have access to your keystrokes as well.
I’d recommend this router to pretty much everyone who is looking to upgrade their home connection without breaking the bank, this router provides amazing value, lightning fast speeds, and a large coverage area. Buy this only if you are ok with not having your password blocked from view when entering it and if you are ok with learning new terms to find things in the interface.
