Bronny James Rookie of the Year?

Bronny James, the son of basketball legend LeBron James, has been making waves in the basketball world. Recently selected by the Los Angeles Lakers in the NBA draft, Bronny has transitioned from high school to the professional level with only a brief stop in college. Many say he didn’t deserve to be selected as the 55th pick. Chorus of haters seem to grow larger everyday. Many have just accepted he was drafted but are 100% sure he will never make it the NBA.

Early Struggles

Bronny’s initial performance in the Summer League wasn’t exactly what many expected. He faced challenges with shooting accuracy and overall consistency. There was a lot of pressure on him as the son of a basketball icon, and the spotlight was intense. He received hate from many  just being drafted, seemingly proving all them correct with his initial G league performance. He also received a 4 year 7.9 million dollar deal causing many of his peers to envy him. This deal may make other contracts look like chump change but the Jersey Sales for the Team will easily pay for the extra salary.

Showing Improvement

However, Bronny didn’t let the early struggles define him. In later games, he began to show signs of improvement. He scored more points, made better decisions on the court, and looked more confident. At this point in the summer season he seems to look a lot more like an NBA draft pick then he did when he was drafted. Silencing many of his haters and gaining a few fans along the way. His Jersey sales are through the roof so far and he is already gaining many new fans.

Going out with a Bang!

Finishing strong Bronny put together 12 pt game against Hawks and a 13 point game against the Cavs. After those performances he finished the summer league averaging 8.8 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 1 assist per game. Not too shabby but nothing to write home about. Chances of Rookie of the Year in the NBA seem slim since he will spend most of the season in the G League. Maybe G League Rookie?
