Basil Ice Cubes
🌿 DIY: Freeze Basil in Ice Cubes!
Basil is a tasty herb that adds great flavor to pasta, soups, and sauces.
But what do you do when you have too much?
Freeze it in ice cubes! It’s super easy and helps you keep basil fresh for months.
🧂 What You Need:
- Fresh basil leaves
- Water or olive oil
- Ice cube tray
- Knife (optional)
- Spoon
👣 Step-by-Step Instructions:
- Wash the basil
Rinse your basil leaves with cool water to remove dirt. - Chop or leave whole
You can chop the basil into small pieces or leave the leaves whole. - Put basil in tray
Place the chopped or whole basil into each section of an ice cube tray. Fill each about halfway. - Add water or oil
Pour water or olive oil over the basil in the tray. Fill to the top. Use water if you’ll add the basil to soups or boiling dishes. Use olive oil if you’ll use it for cooking or sauces. - Freeze it
Put the tray in the freezer and wait until it’s fully frozen (a few hours or overnight). - Store in bags
Once frozen, pop the cubes out and store them in a freezer bag. Label the bag with the date.

- These basil cubes last up to 6 months in the freezer.
